About Como

GreenLake-Engineering is located in Como, one of the most beautiful Italian territory, full of history and industriousness of its inhabitants.

Como is a wonderful Lombard city, chief town of a wide district (600,000 inhabitants) that goes from the fertile Brianza plains, in the South, to the Pre-Alps slopes, in the North. The area is full of tiny and large lakes.

The city stands on the bank of its namesake lake (also called Lario) and it is situated 40 km north from Milan and few kilometers from the Swiss border.
The area is served by the highway called Autostrada dei Laghi (A9), which connects Lombardy to the North Europe; it’s the first highway built in Italy.

In a territory characterized by the solid economy of the thriving commercial, handcrafted and industrial activities, Como is traditionally known all over the world for the refined silk manufacturing and for the clothing design.

Lake Como, third basin in Italy, is composed by three branches, like an upside-down Y: the branch of Como, the branch of Lecco and the branch of Colico.
Situated in the center of the Alpine area, it’s always been appreciated by travelers of North Europe who see it as a Mediterranean glimpse in the mountains.
On the other hand, people who come from the big cities appreciate it as a quiet refuge with his mild climate, even though it is at the feet of the Alps.

In 2014, Lake Como has been ranked as the most beautiful lake in the world from the online newspaper “The Huffington Post” for its microclimate and its environment dotted with villages and villas.
